I love wearing hats but I hate squashed flat hat hair. Continuing on my summer hair series, I've got a super quick trick to avoid hat hair that works every time.
I filmed a quick video tutorial to show you exactly what I mean when I was away in Thailand recently. I had such an amazing trip and you can read more of it over Mr and Mrs Romance. That's the travel and lifestyle blog that I write with my husband Jim. Well actually Jim does more of the writing and I take all the photos.
Back to hat hair, I think it is really important to take care of your skin when you're in the sun. While I always wear SPF, I also like to wear a big hat when I know I will be outdoors for a long time. I always pack at least one hat when I'm going away. When I'm out, I can normally keep a small hat on all day, but this big hat needs to be taken off when you get inside. So here's what I do.
Click here to watch my video tutorial on how to avoid hat hair if you can't see it above.
So here's a quick rundown of the steps.
This trick works just as well with bicycle helmets, motorcycle helmets or any other head gear that you might need to wear, even a hard hat at work.
So tell me, do you have any tips for avoiding hat hair? And what types of videos or tutorials you would like to see next on my YouTube channel?

I love a time-saving hair hack and this really is the fastest way to curl hair extensions.
Lately, I’ve discovered a renewed love for clip-in hair extensions. To get the best effect though, I do think you need to have a wave or curl in your hair to help them blend in.
But curling a headful of extensions is tricky, especially when you’re not used to dealing with so much hair.
The hack is simple: curl your extensions first and then clip them in to your hair.
Your natural hair type is often different to the extensions. They’ll take different times to curl. By curling them separately, you can get a more even result.
But how do you curl extensions when you’re getting ready on your own?
Shut your extensions in a drawer!
I know it looks a bit creepy, but it works!
The clips will stop the hair from slipping out of the drawer and will allow you to curl your hair extensions easily.
Alternatively, you can use a skirt hanger to hold your extensions up as well!
You can curl your extensions while they’re in your hair, but I find curling them separately makes it easy to get perfect curls in each hair type.
I’ve been loving the different braids and styles I can do with the mermaid-length hair I get instantly with extensions. Being able to style them separately and keep them hanging, ready to wear, make is so easy.
Have you tried clip-in hair extensions? Do you have any tips or hacks to make them quicker to wear?

PPS. Thanks to Irresistible Me for sending me these honey blonde extensions, which are almost a perfect match for my hair. I’m wearing the 20” 200g set.
