The story behind the Hair Care Challenge

I’ve wanted to do reader makeovers for so long now and I am absolutely thrilled to have Schwarzkopf as my partner on this series.

As you probably know, I’ve been a fan of their products since forever. And as we’ve been working together a little bit lately, I convinced them to let me bring some of my readers in so we could have a little hair party.

Makeovers are more than just indulgence

I adore a makeover, and I think it’s really important to see a makeover not as changing you, but more about spending some quality time with yourself.

So often we put ourselves last and don’t schedule in enough of that important ‘me time’.

For Cathy, Sascha and Lana, their lives are incredibly full. They have so many demands on their time that they often allow themselves to fall to the bottom of the list.

Meet Cathy

First up, I want you to meet Cathy.

Cathy is a mum of three from Wollongong, NSW. She has a son and twin daughters that keep her pretty busy.

Cathy also has one of the kindest hearts of anyone I’ve ever met.

She’s always helping others and so she was a great candidate for a Hair Romance Makeover because it’s time someone gave her a bit of a pamper and some time to relax.

Cathy is our first Hair Care Challenge transformation and I think you’ll be as impressed with the results as she is.

Cathy’s Hair Profile

• Cathy’s hair is naturally thick and quite dry and she felt her hair was looking a bit flat.
• Her main hair concerns were covering greys and getting more vibrancy in her hair colour.

Cathy’s Hair Recipe

We created a custom colour for Cathy by mixing two shades from the Colour Specialist range – the 6.68 Fiery Dark Blonde and the 8.1 Cool Light Blonde in a 50/50 ratio.

This creates a level 7 colour with just the right tones for Cathy’s complexion.

This is something new both Cathy and I learned on the day from Grant Withnell, Schwarzkopf’s National Technical Educator, or as I like to call him, the Colour Master.

You can mix two tones within same Schwarzkopf Colour range to create a custom shade to suit your hair.

Best of all, Cathy’s hair is strengthened by the Omegaplex technology in this colour and the colour is blissfully low maintenance too. She can fit in root touch-ups at home to suit her schedule.

I’m so thrilled with how Cathy’s hair turned out. And even more important is how Cathy feels about her hair. She loves the result and will continue the same colour at home. I can’t wait for an update from her in another few months’ time.

Hair care added bonuses

 

There’s so much more in the Colour Specialist box.

Beyond the actual colouring process with Omegaplex 1, there’s the Omegaplex 2 conditioner that you apply after rinsing out the colour. Because this conditioner also has Plex in it, your hair’s getting an extra dose of care at the end of the process.

Then there is an extra step in the box. This is Omegaplex 3, which you complete as a conditioning treatment three weeks after you colour at home.
