Here's a simple tutorial for how to wear a flower crown in your hair in two easy ways.

Wearing flowers in your hair is one of my favourite things. To me, it's perfect spring / summer hair.

It might seem like you need an event to wear a crown, but you don't have to.

Flower crowns are a gorgeous detail for weddings or event but you shouldn't have to save them for special occasions. I say if you like it, you should wear it as often as possible. Flower crowns make for cool festival hair too.

Bring out your inner bohemian and add some whimsy to a regular day. Don't save things for occasions or you may never wear them at all.

Where to find flower crowns

Flower crowns are now so much easier to find. I picked this one up from Lovisa and I've seen all the high street chain stores selling versions lately. I've got some of my faves at the bottom of this post.

Style tip for wearing flower crowns

Whichever version you prefer, my biggest tip for wearing flower crowns is to create a hairstyle underneath to help hold them in place. Some flower crowns can be heavy, so you need some sort of hair scaffolding to hold them up.

Follow this half-up twist tutorial as seen above for a simple style to hold your flower crown in place. You could also try this braid tutorial too.

So this is the typical way to wear a flower crown, with the flowers sitting along your hairline or on top of your head.

  • Leave some layers out around your face. Not only does this make it more comfortable to wear, as the crown rests on your hair, not on your skin, but it's so soft and pretty too.
  • If you prefer to have all your hair off your face, initially leave some hair out and then pin it back once the crown is in place.
  • Pin in place. Once you're happy with how the flowers are sitting, use a hair pin or bobby pin to secure it in place.

An alternative version is to keep it simple at the front and party at the back, like this.

  • Follow the same hairstyle tutorial for the half-up twist as you will need extra support with this style. Or wear any twist or braid style that you like.
  • Fold or tuck in any ends. You need to create a half-crown of flowers, so tuck in or trim any ribbons. If you have a full flower crown you can fold it or cut it to create this half-crown shape.
  • Secure the crown to your hairstyle. Grab some bobby pins or hair pins and connect your twist hairstyle to your flower crown. Also pin through to attach to the rest of your hair too. This will make it more secure so you won't have to worry about it falling out.
